Amarillo's Finest

Posted by Kurt Welch on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, In : Hear'd
Well I just spent a few days with Shane Schramm, owner of Shane Schramm Construction out of Amarillo, TX - Lake Tanglewood and Mike Spilde, ShoreMaster Territory Manager in Amarillo, TX. I had a great time, and as usually happens with these sort of outings I learned alot about myself, our products and the good folks that sell, install and service them.

Shane Schramm has been in the industry for many years, but teamed up with ShoreMaster in about 2004. His main reason, he says, is that ShoreMas...

The Truth In Advertising

Posted by Kurt Welch on Thursday, May 14, 2009, In : Rants

When reading any editorial about specific products in any magazine, brochure, or catalog it's a good idea to remember that the products featured in the editorial (if a magazine) are, many times, only included because the product's manufacturer advertises in the magazine.

This is the nature of the print media. It costs a lot of money to print out these cumbersome, instantly dated, aqueous coated piles of yesterday. Not all magazines are guilty of this, but when the content is limited to only t...

ShoreMaster Customer Service Testimonial

Posted by Kurt Welch on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, In : Wor'd
I was cleaning out some of my old files this morning and ran across this email (from 2005) of an interaction with a customer that I had back then with a customer from Florida. Over several emails, and a couple of phone calls I was finally able to help out the customer. Unbeknownst to me at the time was that fact that the customer was
Major General Douglas Burnett of the USAF, appointed the Adjutant General of Florida by Govenor Bush on November ...

Updating site

Posted by Kurt Welch on Monday, May 11, 2009,

This blog has gotten quite stale lately but there are a lot of great new things coming out from ShoreMaster. The new Hydraulic boat Lift has been named the Revolution. I'm working on creating the decals, and marketing materials right now. The new lift should be ready to ship near the first week of June. I'll keep you posted.

We are also creating new marketing materials for ShoreMaster / Galva-Foam Kit Dock and floating lifts. Hopefully these will be good to go by the end of May (that's the go...

While sifting through the flotsam and jetsam of cyber space I ran across an interesting website. Check out the link below…

Gary whipped this one out pretty quick in his spare time in the hotel room and is using it to learn so that he can show dealers that do not have a website how to build one, etc. Very cool!

Traveling and Blogging

Posted by Kurt Welch on Sunday, April 26, 2009,

I'm traveling with Robert Rein on I 29 thorugh South Dakota on our way to Omaha, NE and blogging at the same time. Technology is pretty cool when you can have internet access while traveling down the road (now if I could just find some content to write about that would be beneficial to readers of this blog!). Maybe later.

Updates To The Waterfront Accessories Tab

Posted by Kurt Welch on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, In : Hear'd
Finally,

We are making updates to the Waterfront Accessories Tab on the ShoreMaster website. previously and currently this included links to the Shoreline Website, which in many cases, did not offer these products. So, after nearly 8 hours of gathering and compiling "more Info" on each of the products listed within all of the sub-categories of Waterfront Accessories, we should soon actually have more info, as opposed to a link to the Shoreline website. Whoo Hoo! As soon as all of these changes...

Future SM Dress Code?

Posted by Kurt Welch on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, In : Wor'd

This may not be the future of SM's dress code,

But it is the future of a successful, polished, Alexander Kangas. Long known for styling it up, Alex showed up from class today, in a svelt black suit, touched off by a smooth dark crimson tie. Mum was the word about the suit and tie from Alex, but the speculators assumed either an interview, a major business presentation, or a too literal interpretation of the new SM Dress Code.

ShoreMaster has adopted a new dress code recently and it does affe...

Warmer Temps This Week!

Posted by Kurt Welch on Tuesday, April 7, 2009,

Hey, warmer temps this week, and the arrival of Easter this weekend could mean a strong surge in visits to the lake place for many Minnesotans. With temps in northwest Minnesota expected to be in the upper 40's to mid 50's, that's where I'll be this Saturday! This could mean a few more calls to local waterfront equipment dealers to discuss the possibility of a new dock or boat lift, or to schedule an installation of a current dock or boat lift.

Find your nearest ShoreMaster dealer here.

Here are few pics from the Fargo Flood. I wasn't just a gawker, I did do some time sandbagging and grunt work to help out the good citizens of Fargo. When volunteer efforts sort of shut down on Friday at around six, I was able to go around and take a few photos with my Blackberry (thanks IT dept.)

36" Poly Dock In the Works?

Posted by Kurt Welch on Thursday, March 26, 2009, In : New'd
Word from inside ShoreMaster now is that a 36" wide Poly Dock may be in the works. This may take the place of a proposed 5' wide Poly Dock as customer demand leans towards a narrower Poly Dock to accomodate size restrictions on some lakes, or to allow dealers to create narrower fingers for marina type applications of the Poly Dock. I'll keep you posted as more info becomes available.
In the mean time, savor this tasty top secret photo of the possible 36 inch Poly Dock.

New Poly Dock Size Suggestion

Posted by Kurt Welch on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, In : New'd
A very experienced profesional in the waterfront equipment industry suggested that we also consider a 61.5" wide Poly Dock because it would allow to 5' wide Poly Dock sections to be connected perpendicular to a 10' side. I think he is on to something there. Hence, we've added that size to the poll, so cast your vote now!
